Behind the Curtain

I have a huge passion for plants and plant care, when I would travel back and forth from school in the summer, I would pile all of my plants into the backseat of my car and buckle them in for the 18-hour trip so I could care for them until the next semester.

I wanted to create an online marketplace for plant care, as many people don't have access to a quality nursery where they are living. When coming up with the name, I wanted to avoid the word bloom, as the word is overused, and leans more toward florists than nurseries. I chose the word unfurl—which is the word used when a new leaf that has to emerge unfolds and reveals the beautiful shiny new addition to the plant.

The color palette is representative of the green variations across plants and the orange for the terracotta planters that are typical for house plants. I included two shades of purple to compliment the green and offer a calming sensation to the palette.

I had a lot of fun applying the brand suite to the various plant care products and packaging. I use many of these items on a weekly basis, and always wish that they looked more aesthetic rather than pesticides from the hardware store in harsh colors.
