CANDL

Behind the Curtain

Much of the world has turned to Scandinavian design for inspiration making pastels very popular. I chose lavender because I believe that is one of the most popular candle scents and would make a nice accent color to the brand. The other shades of blue and green give the brand a bold yet youthful tone. I chose a font that reminded me of the visual interest that abstract candles represent. I used a lowercase 'D' when creating the word mark so that I could design a logo that resembled taper candles.

I constructed a package design for both taper candles and classic container candles, as I see them being the best sellers. I found out, through research, that a person who makes candles is known as a candler—so for the business cards, each level of the business encompasses a variation of candles. Each time two majuscule letters resemble taper candles, two little flames will be added to the design. The back of the business card has the same logo pattern as the tissue paper in the packaging.

I firmly believe in cutting the wick of my candles every time I burn them, so I wanted to include a 'care card' thank you note that allowed the purchaser to know the best practices when it comes to burning their candles. This will allow for the best experience and eventually repeat purchases.
